Mark Helprin
Mark Helprin is an American novelist, journalist, and conservative commentator known for his richly imaginative, lyrical fiction that often blends historical realism with mythic or fantastical elements. Born in New York City and raised in the Hudson River Valley and the British West Indies, he served in the British Merchant Navy, the Israeli infantry, and the Israeli Air Force. A graduate of Harvard and Oxford, he has had a long career as a writer for The New Yorker and as a senior fellow at the Claremont Institute. His notable works include the bestselling novel 'Winter's Tale' and 'A Soldier of the Great War'.
