Ocean Vuong is a Vietnamese American poet, essayist, and novelist. His work often explores themes of war, trauma, queerness, and the immigrant experience. He was born in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and immigrated to the United States at the age of two. Vuong learned English in kindergarten and began writing poetry in elementary school. He has taught at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and is currently a professor at New York University.
