Nicole Flattery
Nicole Flattery is an Irish short story writer and novelist, born in Kinnegad, County Westmeath, in 1989. She studied theatre and film at Trinity College Dublin, followed by a master's in creative writing. Flattery gained recognition for her short stories published in various literary journals and won the White Review Short Story Prize in 2017 for her story 'Track'. Her debut short story collection, 'Show Them a Good Time,' was published in 2019 and received critical acclaim, winning awards such as the An Post Irish Book Award and the Kate O'Brien Prize. Her debut novel, 'Nothing Special,' set in 1960s New York and exploring themes of female friendship, fame, and identity, was published in 2023. Flattery's work is known for its dark humor, sharp observations, and exploration of contemporary life and young womanhood.
