Lynn Coady is a Canadian novelist, short story writer, journalist, and TV writer, born on January 24, 1970, in Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia. She is known for her acute, often humorous observations of everyday life, exploring themes of class conflict, identity, and the complexities of human relationships. Coady was adopted and grew up in a small industrial town. She attended Carleton University and earned an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia. Her work often features settings in the Maritime provinces and critiques regional stereotypes while celebrating distinctiveness. Coady has also worked as a playwright, editor, and senior writer for Adbusters Magazine. She has taught creative writing at various institutions.
