
Diana Ma
Diana Ma is a Chinese American author who writes Young Adult (YA) and Middle Grade (MG) books featuring Asian American heroes. She believes it's important for all children to see themselves as the protagonists of the stories they read, and her writing is driven by the conviction that diverse books contribute to a better world. Ma holds a BA in Creative Writing from the University of Washington and an MA in English with a Creative Writing focus from the University of Illinois, Chicago. She is also an educator, teaching composition, creative writing, literature, and humanities at a community college in Seattle. Ma was a mentee in the 2019 We Need Diverse Books program and a fellow in the 2021 Highlights Foundation Muslim Storytellers program. Her debut novel, "Heiress Apparently," was a finalist for the 2021 Washington State Book Award in Young Adult Literature.
