Asako Yuzuki
Asako Yuzuki is a Japanese writer born in Tokyo in 1981. She won the All Yomimono Prize for New Writers in 2008 for her story "Forget Me, Not Blue," which was included in her debut collection, "Shūten no Ano Ko." In 2015, she received the Yamamoto Shūgorō Prize for "Nile Perch No Joshikai." Yuzuki has been nominated multiple times for the prestigious Naoki Prize, and her novels have been adapted for television, radio, and film. Her works often explore themes of human psychology, societal pressures, and complex personal relationships, with a focus on women's lives and societal expectations. Her novel "Butter," inspired by a real-life serial murder case, gained international acclaim, becoming a bestseller and winning the Waterstones Book of the Year in 2024. Yuzuki studied French literature at Rikkyo University and previously worked for a confectionery maker before dedicating herself to writing.
