Gene Kerrigan is an Irish journalist and novelist who grew up in Cabra, Dublin. He is known for his political commentary on Ireland since the 1970s, published in various magazines and newspapers such as Magill, the Sunday Independent, and International Socialism. Kerrigan has also written fiction, primarily crime novels, which often explore the darker aspects of Irish society and the criminal underworld. His novel 'The Rage' won the 2012 Gold Dagger for best crime novel of the year. He retired from his role as a regular columnist with the Sunday Independent in November 2023.
