Roddy Doyle (born 8 May 1958) is an Irish novelist, dramatist and screenwriter known for his vivid portrayals of working-class Dublin. He is the author of the Barrytown Trilogy (including The Commitments, The Snapper and The Van) and won the Booker Prize in 1993 for Paddy Clarke Ha Ha Ha. Doyle has written novels for adults and children, plays and screenplays; several of his works have been adapted for film and television.
