Emma Donoghue (born October 1969) is an Irish-Canadian novelist, playwright, screenwriter and literary historian. She is best known for the international bestseller Room (2010), which she adapted for the screen; her work spans contemporary and historical fiction, short stories, plays and literary scholarship. Donoghue has been shortlisted for major prizes and has received awards including the Stonewall Book Award and the Ferro-Grumley Award.
