Joanne Stewart Wetzel

Joanne Stewart Wetzel is an author known for her children's books, including "Mermaid School," "Onstage/Backstage," and "Playing Juliet." She grew up as an Air Force brat, attending nine different schools by fifth grade and living in various countries, which gave her a unique perspective on first days of school. Wetzel also has a background in synchronized swimming and has drawn inspiration from her experiences for her writing. She has a BA in Anthropology from Arizona State University and an MA in Art History from Stanford University. Wetzel has also worked in public relations and marketing, written a video game, and contributed to various magazines. She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
