Daniel Easterman
Daniel Easterman is the primary pen name of Denis MacEoin (1949–2022), a Northern Irish scholar and novelist. Trained in English, Persian and Arabic, MacEoin lectured in Islamic studies and published both academic work on Iran, Shiʿism and new religious movements and a series of international thrillers and ghost stories under the pseudonyms Daniel Easterman and Jonathan Aycliffe. As Easterman he wrote numerous internationally translated thrillers (including K, The Ninth Buddha, The Seventh Sanctuary and The Judas Testament) drawing on his knowledge of the Middle East and religious history. He also produced reports for think tanks on contemporary Islam and contributed many articles to journals and collections.
