Attica Locke is an American fiction author and writer/producer for television and film. Born in Houston, Texas, she was named after the 1971 Attica Prison rebellion. Locke graduated from Northwestern University School of Communication in 1995 and was a fellow at the Sundance Institute's Feature Filmmakers Lab in 1999. She has written scripts for major studios and worked as a writer and producer on television shows such as "Empire," "When They See Us," and "Little Fires Everywhere." She also co-created and executive produced the Netflix series "From Scratch." Locke's novels often explore themes of race, power, and justice in Texas and the American South. She lives in Los Angeles, California.
