Martin Amis

Martin Louis Amis (1949–2023) was a British novelist, essayist and critic known for his acerbic wit, stylistic virtuosity and satirical examinations of late-20th-century British life. He published his first novel, The Rachel Papers, in 1973 and went on to write acclaimed works including Money, London Fields, Time's Arrow and The Information. Amis also wrote essays, memoir and literary criticism; his memoir Experience won the James Tait Black Memorial Prize. He was the son of novelist Kingsley Amis and was a central figure in British literary culture from the 1970s through the 2010s.
