Charles J. Shields
Charles J. Shields is an American biographer known for his works on prominent 20th-century American novelists and writers, including Harper Lee, Kurt Vonnegut, John Williams, and Lorraine Hansberry. After a career in education, he transitioned to full-time writing, initially focusing on nonfiction for young readers before gaining acclaim for his adult biographies. His biography of Harper Lee, 'Mockingbird: A Portrait of Harper Lee,' became a New York Times bestseller. Shields is also a co-founder of Biographers International Organization (BIO).
