James D. Doss (born in Kentucky, 1939 – died May 17, 2012) was an American mystery novelist and former technical staff member at Los Alamos National Laboratory. After a career as an electrical engineer working on particle accelerators and biomedical technology, Doss retired and wrote the Charlie Moon mystery series — a set of novels that blend police procedural elements with Native American (Ute) spirituality and Southwestern settings.
