Carolyn Leigh

Carolyn Leigh (August 21, 1926 – November 19, 1983) was an American lyricist for Broadway, film, and popular songs. She is best known for her collaborations with composer Cy Coleman, with whom she wrote the pop standards "Witchcraft" and "The Best Is Yet to Come." Leigh also wrote the million-selling song "Young at Heart" with Johnny Richards for the 1954 film of the same name, starring Frank Sinatra. Her other notable Broadway works include lyrics for "Peter Pan," "Wildcat," "Little Me," and "How Now, Dow Jones." Leigh was posthumously inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1985. She was born Carolyn Paula Rosenthal in the Bronx, New York, and died in New York City.
