Ian Holding (born Neal Hovelmeier) is a Zimbabwean novelist and short-story writer. His debut novel Unfeeling (2005) received critical acclaim and was shortlisted for the Dylan Thomas Prize (2006). Holding's work frequently examines race, power and contemporary Zimbabwean society; later novels include Of Beasts and Beings (2010) and What Happened to Us (2018). He has served as a Hawthornden Fellow and has contributed essays and journalism to various publications.
