William Boyd (born 1952) is a Ghana-born British novelist, short-story writer and screenwriter. He is the author of numerous acclaimed novels and story collections known for their literary range, historical settings and narrative experimentation. Notable works include A Good Man in Africa, An Ice-Cream War, Brazzaville Beach, Any Human Heart and Restless. Boyd has received multiple literary awards and honours over his career and has also written for film and television; he was appointed CBE and has been a prominent figure in contemporary British letters.
