Kate Atkinson (born 20 December 1951) is an English novelist and short-story writer from York known for genre-blending fiction that ranges from literary and historical novels to crime series featuring Jackson Brodie. Her notable works include Behind the Scenes at the Museum, the Jackson Brodie series (beginning with Case Histories), Life After Life and A God in Ruins. She has received multiple awards and honours and was appointed MBE.
