Edward Randolph Emberley is an American artist and illustrator, best known for children's picture books. He is particularly famous for his instructional "how-to-draw" books, which use clear, step-by-step instructions with simple shapes, numbers, and letters. Emberley believes that anyone can learn to draw. He has illustrated or contributed to over 50 books, many of which were first published between the 1960s and 1980s. His work has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Caldecott Medal for "Drummer Hoff" in 1968.
