Vikas Swarup

Vikas Swarup (born 22 June 1961) is an Indian novelist and retired diplomat of the Indian Foreign Service. He is best known for his debut novel Q & A, which was adapted into the Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire. Swarup has served in Indian diplomatic missions worldwide and held senior posts including High Commissioner to Canada and Secretary (West) in the Ministry of External Affairs. He is the author of Six Suspects, The Accidental Apprentice and other works, and his books have been translated into many languages.
