Frances Gies
Frances Gies (June 10, 1915 – December 18, 2013) was an American historian and author who, often collaborating with her husband Joseph Gies, wrote accessible popular histories of medieval Europe, including books on medieval cities, castles, villages, family life, and technology. She authored several solo works such as Women in the Middle Ages, Joan of Arc: The Legend and the Reality, and The Knight in History, and with Joseph produced the widely read "Medieval Life" series.
