James Underwood Crockett

James Underwood Crockett (October 9, 1915 – July 11, 1979) was an American horticulturist, author, and the original host of the PBS series The Victory Garden. He wrote several practical gardening books (including Crockett's Victory Garden, Crockett's Indoor Garden, and Crockett's Flower Garden) and contributed to Time–Life's Encyclopedia of Gardening. He was known for a calendar-based, hands-on approach to home gardening and for bringing gardening to a broad television audience in the 1970s.
