Joseph Rudyard Kipling (known as Rudyard Kipling) was an English author and poet celebrated for his tales and poems of British imperial India, including The Jungle Book, Kim, and numerous short stories and poems. He combined storytelling for children with works for adults, and his writing influenced late 19th- and early 20th-century literature. Kipling received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1907.
