James Kochalka

James Kochalka (born May 26, 1967) is an American cartoonist, writer, illustrator, animator and musician best known for his autobiographical comics, children's picture books and early-reader graphic novels. He is creator of the long-running webcomic American Elf and author/illustrator of popular children’s series including Johnny Boo and Dragon Puncher, and the picture-book/graphic character The Glorkian Warrior. Kochalka has received multiple industry awards (including Ignatz Awards, a Harvey Award and an Eisner Award) and served as Vermont's first Cartoonist Laureate.
