C. S. Friedman (born January 12, 1957) is an American speculative fiction author known for dark fantasy and science fiction works, including the Coldfire Trilogy and the novel This Alien Shore. Originally a professional costume designer, she began publishing in the mid-1980s, later becoming a full-time writer. Her work spans fantasy and science fiction and has received industry recognition and nominations.
