Frances Mayes
Frances Mayes (born March 23, 1940) is an American writer, poet, novelist and memoirist best known for her bestselling memoir Under the Tuscan Sun and a series of travel- and Italy-focused books. A former professor of creative writing at San Francisco State University, Mayes has published poetry, novels, travel memoirs, and cookbooks; her work has been translated into many languages and adapted for film. She divides her time between the United States and Tuscany.
