Chloe Gong

Chloe Gong is a New Zealand–born, #1 New York Times bestselling author best known for the Secret Shanghai novels, beginning with These Violent Delights (2020). Born in Shanghai and raised in Auckland, New Zealand, she graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in English and international relations. Her work—often combining historical settings, romance, and speculative elements—has been published in multiple countries and featured in major outlets. She was named to Forbes' 30 Under 30 (Media) in 2024.
