Louise Erdrich
Karen Louise Erdrich (born June 7, 1954) is an American novelist, poet, and writer of children's books, widely acclaimed for fiction that centers Ojibwe characters and communities in the northern Midwest. Her work explores family, history, memory, and the effects of colonialism and federal policy on Native American life. She is an enrolled member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians and the author of multiple award-winning novels and childrens' books.
