Terry Winter Kay (February 10, 1938 – December 12, 2020) was an American novelist known for evocative stories of life in the American South. Born in Royston, Georgia, he began his career in journalism and later published his first novel in 1976. He achieved wide recognition with To Dance with the White Dog (1990), which was adapted for television and helped establish him as a leading Southern writer. Kay received multiple regional awards and had several works adapted for screen and stage.
