Craig Allen Johnson (born 1961) is an American novelist best known for the Walt Longmire mystery series set in fictional Absaroka County, Wyoming. His books combine elements of crime fiction and Westerns and served as the basis for the television series Longmire. Johnson grew up in Huntington, West Virginia, attended Marshall University, and lives on a ranch in Ucross, Wyoming.
