Jean Craighead George

Jean Craighead George (1919–2012) was an American author best known for her nature-focused children's and young adult books. Her work often features detailed natural-history observation and themes of survival and human relationship with the environment. She wrote more than 100 books for young readers, including the Newbery Medal-winning Julie of the Wolves and the popular survival novel My Side of the Mountain.
