Lena Kennedy (15 June 1914 – 1 August 1986) was an English novelist best known for popular historical/romantic sagas set in the East End of London. She grew up in Hoxton, left school at 14 to work in a tailoring factory, and published her first novel at age 64. Her books—many bestsellers in the UK—celebrate community life, working-class characters and period detail; some of her memoir/autobiographical material was published posthumously.
