Jhumpa Lahiri

Jhumpa Lahiri (born Nilanjana Sudeshna Lahiri) is an award-winning author known for her short stories and novels that explore the immigrant experience, particularly of Bengali families in the United States. She won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for her debut collection Interpreter of Maladies (1999) and has written notable works in both English and Italian, including The Namesake and The Lowland. Lahiri has also translated Italian literature into English and has lived and worked in both the United States and Italy.
