Robert Cooke Goolrick was an American author and former advertising executive. After a long career in advertising, he turned to writing in his fifties, gaining literary prominence with his raw, candid memoir 'The End of the World as We Know It' (2007), which detailed his upbringing in a dysfunctional Southern family. He went on to write several acclaimed novels, including the bestseller 'A Reliable Wife' (2009), often exploring themes of family secrets, trauma, and human endurance in a style reminiscent of Southern Gothic literature.
