Kent Haruf

Kent Haruf (1943–2014) was an acclaimed American novelist best known for his novels set in the fictional town of Holt, Colorado, on the High Plains. His work, characterized by an unadorned, humane style, explores the lives of ordinary people. He served in the Peace Corps in Turkey and taught English and fiction writing at several universities before achieving widespread recognition with his 1999 novel, Plainsong.
