Uwem Akpan
Uwem Akpan is a Nigerian writer and former Jesuit priest. Born in Ikot Akpan Eda, Nigeria, he studied philosophy, English, and theology before earning an MFA in creative writing from the University of Michigan. He is widely recognized for his debut short story collection, 'Say You're One of Them' (2008), which won several awards and was an Oprah's Book Club selection. He has held numerous prestigious writing fellowships and currently teaches in the University of Florida's writing program.
