Afia Atakora

Afia Atakora is a Ghanaian-American author of historical fiction. Born in the United Kingdom and raised in New Jersey, she graduated from New York University and earned an MFA from Columbia University, where she was a recipient of the De Alba Fellowship. Her debut novel, Conjure Women, received critical acclaim and won the Society of American Historians Prize.
