Peter Carey
Peter Philip Carey is an acclaimed Australian novelist and short story writer, known for his exploration of postcolonial themes, Australian identity, and history. He is one of the few authors to have won the Booker Prize twice, for 'Oscar and Lucinda' (1988) and 'True History of the Kelly Gang' (2001). After a successful career in advertising in Australia and London, he moved to New York City in 1990, where he has taught creative writing, including serving as the executive director of the MFA program at Hunter College. In 2025, he announced his retirement from writing novels, though he continues to write non-fiction.
