Arthur Bryce Courtenay (14 August 1933 – 22 November 2012) was a South African–Australian novelist and former advertising executive. He rose to international fame with his debut novel The Power of One (1989) and wrote numerous popular historical and family-saga novels set in South Africa and Australia. During his writing career he sold millions of copies worldwide and was made a Member of the Order of Australia.
