Dame Jilly Cooper
Dame Jilly Cooper (born Jill Sallitt) is an English author best known for her Rutshire Chronicles — a series of popular romantic and social novels beginning with Riders (1985). She began her career as a journalist and magazine columnist before publishing both non-fiction and a string of bestselling romance novels. Cooper's work is noted for its depiction of upper‑class country life, horses, dogs and racy romantic entanglements; she has been a prolific writer from the 1970s into the 2020s.
