Alafair Burke
Alafair S. Burke is a New York Times bestselling author of crime novels and a professor of law. She is known for her standalone suspense novels and for the series featuring NYPD Detective Ellie Hatcher and Portland prosecutor Samantha Kincaid. Burke also co-authored several novels with Mary Higgins Clark. Her books have been translated into over a dozen languages. She is a former prosecutor and currently teaches criminal law and procedure at Hofstra University School of Law. Burke has served as president of the Mystery Writers of America, being the first woman of color to hold that position. Her work often draws on her legal background and personal experiences, with her fascination for crime stemming from growing up in Wichita, Kansas, during the time the BTK killer was active.
