Kristin Cashore is an American author of young adult and fantasy novels, best known for the Graceling Realm series. She grew up in rural northeastern Pennsylvania and earned a bachelor's degree from Williams College and a master's degree in Children's Literature from Simmons College. Cashore has worked various jobs, including as a dog runner, a candy factory packer, an editorial assistant, a legal assistant, and a freelance writer. Her debut novel, Graceling, was published in 2008 and received numerous accolades, including being named an ALA Best Book for Young Adults and winning the Mythopoeic Fantasy Award for Children's Literature. Her books have been translated into over thirty languages and are known for their intricate world-building, strong female characters, and exploration of themes such as power, privilege, and identity. She currently lives in the Boston area.
