She discovered her family's history at age 15 and spent years researching it before fictionalizing their story. Her work focuses on historical fiction, often exploring themes of survival, hope, and the human spirit during challenging times. Hunter graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in psychology. Her second novel, "One Good Thing," also set during the Holocaust era, was released in 2025.
