Jessica George
Jessica George was born and raised in London to Ghanaian parents and studied English Literature at the University of Sheffield. After working at a literary agency and a theatre, she landed a job in the editorial department of Bloomsbury UK. Her debut novel, Maame, became a New York Times bestseller and received accolades such as an Alex Award and a Diverse Book Award. The novel, which addresses themes of familial duty, racism, and adulthood, is inspired by George's personal experiences, particularly her role as a caregiver for her father who had Parkinson's disease.
