Candice Carty-Williams is a British author, journalist, and showrunner, best known for her debut novel 'Queenie' (2019), which made her the first Black woman to win the British Book Awards 'Book of the Year' accolade. Born and raised in South London, she has worked in publishing and media, and created the Guardian and 4th Estate BAME Short Story Prize. She is also the creator and showrunner of the television drama 'Champion'.
