MacKinnon and Smith also collaborated on "The 100 Mile Challenge" television series. His journalism has appeared in publications such as The New Yorker, National Geographic, and The Atlantic. MacKinnon is also an adjunct professor of journalism at the University of British Columbia. He has been involved in class-action lawsuits against tech giants for alleged copyright infringement in AI training.
