Carol Windley

Carol Ann Windley is a Canadian short story writer and novelist, born in Tofino, British Columbia, in 1947. She was raised in British Columbia and Alberta. Windley's debut short story collection, Visible Light (1993), won the Bumbershoot Award and was nominated for the Governor General's Award for English Fiction and the Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize. Her first novel, Breathing Underwater, was published in 1998. In 2002, she won a Western Magazine Award for "What Saffi Knows," which was later included in her short story collection Home Schooling (2006), a finalist for the Scotiabank Giller Prize. Windley has also taught creative writing at Malaspina University-College. She lives on Vancouver Island.
