Elizabeth Abbott

Elizabeth Abbott is a Canadian writer and historian with a doctorate from McGill University in 19th-century history. She is a Senior Research Associate at Trinity College, University of Toronto, and has also taught history at various institutions. Her work often focuses on social justice, women's issues, animal welfare, and the environment. Abbott has written several acclaimed books, including a trilogy on human relationships (A History of Celibacy, A History of Mistresses, A History of Marriage) and books on Haitian history and culture. Her writings have been translated into numerous languages. She has also been a journalist and book reviewer for major Canadian publications.
