Norman Ollestad Jr. is an American author known for his memoir "Crazy for the Storm: A Memoir of Survival." The book recounts his experience as the sole survivor of a plane crash at age eleven, which claimed the lives of his father and two others. He was raised in Topanga Beach, California, and was heavily involved in competitive surfing and skiing from a young age, driven by his father. Ollestad studied creative writing and film at UCLA. His other works include the novel "French Girl with Mother" and the upcoming non-fiction book "Sole Survivor."
